About Fran Gormley

My love affair with photography started in my thirties.

In my youth, I was too focused on making sure “I wasn’t poor as an adult” to indulge in purely creative pursuits.

In 2000, after selling my marketing consulting firm, I felt secure enough to concentrate on my passion.

I started taking classes at the International Center of Photography in New York and Toscana Photographic Workshop in Italy. Over the years, I have studied with many professional photographers. None have influenced me as greatly as Sandro Santioli.

The focus of my work is landscape, reflections and color. I am intrigued by the point at which reality becomes abstraction.

In 2004, I married a pilot and, despite my fear of small planes, started taking aerial images.

Living in Greenwich, Connecticut, I love New England falls … especially as seen from above.
